ValleyStar Credit Union Donates $40,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Southwest Virginia

Martinsville, Virginia (June 2019) – ValleyStar Credit Union held its 24th Annual Golf Tournament at Chatmoss Country Club in Martinsville, Virginia on May 16. The tournament benefitted Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Southwest Virginia and raised a record total of $40,000 through sponsorships, team entries, and ValleyStar employee fundraising. ValleyStar received a $10,000 Miracle Match from CO-OP Financial Services to supplement local fundraising efforts.

“We’re proud of the dedication and support displayed by our ValleyStar family, vendors, and community,” remarked Delbert Lee Morgan, President/CEO of ValleyStar. “This was a record year for the ValleyStar Golf Tournament. Our tournament’s sole purpose is to help children in our region receive the care they need so they can have the future they deserve.”

“Our Carilion Children’s family continues to expand as the ValleyStar Credit Union Golf Tournament grows bigger each year,” said Erin Henderson, Program Director for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Carilion Children’s. “Through this tournament, we are able to give every child in our community the best care available as close to home as possible. It’s our only hope that everyone involved in this tournament knows the impact they are making in the lives of our community’s children.”

All funds donated will remain local and support the purchase of lifesaving medical equipment and services at Carilion Children’s in Roanoke, Virginia. A designated Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, this facility is southwest Virginia’s only dedicated hospital for children and adolescents. Each year, the hospital treats more than 40,000 children from 40 counties in Virginia and neighboring states.
